We endeavour to provide an environment for each child in which they can develop to their full potential. In providing a safe and secure place for the children, they can grow in confidence and tackle new challenges as they arise.
At Deer Park School, the National Curriculum has been adapted to meet the specific needs of the children at the school, many of whom are high attaining children. The curriculum looks to meet the needs of the whole child in terms of staying healthy, feeling safe, enjoying their education and making a positive contribution to society. The ethos of the school promotes the education and wellbeing of all of the children.
Activities Sport: The teachers run numerous after school activities for the children. These vary from one year to the next and according to season. To gain more information on the clubs currently on offer please click on the clubs tab.
Music: Music is an important element of the life of the school. Opportunities are available for the children to take string, woodwind, brass and electronic keyboard tuition. The school orchestra gives opportunity for the children to play publicly as a group.
Visits: During the year the children are taken on visits to places of interest linked to topics they are covering in class. In year 5 the children undertake a 3 day residential adventurous activity trip in the Peak National Park. A 5 day residential trip is undertaken in year 6 where the children visit a coastal location to compare it with the local area around Wingerworth. This forms part of the geography curriculum.
